One can love a piece of music without knowing the inspiration, stimulus, history and structure

Or understand the harmonies, dissonances, pitch relationships etc…

It can be the same with painting.

The whole process by which a painting comes into being is not without history, context, conscious and subconscious thought,

but in the end, what seduces is something else – how that particular story has been told through the hands and eye of the maker, and the perspective, experience, instinct and personal history of the individual viewer.
